Welcome to my blog. My notes. My questions.
A compilation of thoughts, too much for one session.
When it comes to a motive, it’s impossible to condense.
With so many reasons, yet for so long I’ve been on the fence.
The exact route is unclear and that’s by intention,
But the starting point is now, with a bit of expression.
An abundance of topics that we’re sure to explore,
Though an underlying theme might shine as you read more.
Instead of drifting along, blindly dodging each left and right hook,
I wonder if we might foresee the punches with a simple switch of outlook.
The daily race is a constant, it’s one we all get to play.
But the pace will be lost if our untrained subconscious gets in the way.
Each person so unique, thanks to our individual genetic code.
Fact is, it’s mental physique that makes way for beast mode.
A slight influence to look deeper, dissect a bit more.
Hidden knowledge might be the key to open up the next door.
All fueled up on coffee beans in some early morning sessions,
An attempt to brew words with a feeling and a bit of progression.
So here we go, ideas on a page waiting for inspection.
Have a read or don’t, it’s time for my digression.
Who the heck are you? Who the hell am I?
Who are we today? What about yesterday? Will we be the same tomorrow?
Maybe our answers to these questions seem obvious to us… as if the conclusions are a given and in no need of exploration. Well, maybe they are… Maybe we’re already omnipotent within our world. I guess it’s possible that our experiences and interactions, parents and mentors, schooling and coaching have given us a clear and accurate lens to view the world through. We probably mostly have things figured out by now. We understand politics and religion. We know what’s right and wrong. We pretty much have things dialed and don’t need advice on how to live or how to think. No need to spend mental energy to analyze our past, present or future.
If that’s the case though, then why are some of the most badass humans continually dissecting, reassessing and course correcting in their lives? What do they know that we don’t?
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning” – Benjamin Franklin
Maybe you’re a special breed and have it figured out. Props to that! But if you’re like me and have an uncontainable level of curiosity and a feeling that there might be more to your story that has yet to be revealed, grab a cup of fresh brew and let’s dive into some stuff.
As far as today… Some self examination might paint that picture. But then again, what if the deception hidden behind the reflection remains undetected
Some analysis of yesterday can be helpful. It might reveal areas of growth or enlighten us to categories that need improvement. Or it may be of no help at all… Although my lens might be naturally optimistic, I wonder how realistic it is to look back at our past with a set of clear eyes. Our perception of the path we’ve traveled to this point might just be a watered down and manipulated version of the truth. Is that because the conscious mind is protecting itself? Are we trying to tell a story that we’re proud of? What does truth mean anyways?
What does tomorrow’s version of ourselves look like? An open mind might pave the way for this to be the most important question. The most interesting. Definitely the most inspiring question… because with this particular inquiry, we can control the outcome. The answer is only limited by our creativity and ambition. As if that’s not exciting enough, run this little concept through: with a little self awareness, we can cycle this question again and again and again. Continually course correcting to the new target ahead, given our latest insights and experiences. Our life, a blank canvas awaiting the endless design possibilities.
I don’t know about you, but that idea fires me up! Gets my juices flowing. Rev’s the engines… or whatever other excitatory phrase you want to insert. The ultimate freedom to be who we want to be. Do what we desire to do. Create what we’d like to create. Our life, a blank canvas awaiting the endless design possibilities.
Yeah, I realize I said that phrase twice. It might even be worth throwing the triple play at it. Let’s try it out:
“Our life, a blank canvas awaiting the endless design possibilities.”
As I proofread this post, it became even more clear how important this phrase is. It grants us ultimate freedom to choose the outcome of this dance. Here’s the catch: awareness to this concept is the key. My concern is that we hum around each day, going through the motions without realizing that we are in complete control of the design. We are the architects. The conductors. The engineers. Each decision we make alters the future path to come. Maybe that’s what this is about… inspiring conscious effort to the necessary navigation ahead – Instead of wandering around blindfolded in a constant state of unintentional reaction. The combination of optimism and caffeine in my veins says it’s worth a try.
There’s humility in the pursuit of the awareness that I speak of. In order to internalize the idea that we are in control, and the route is up to us – it is necessary to let the ego go for a bit. Although there is a time and place to let the ego shine and inspire growth, it can certainly stand as a road block on the progression trail. Reason being – The ego screams: “I have it figured out. I already know this stuff. I’ve already arrived.” As we read this, it’s easy to see the ego’s negative effects here… but the question is: can we become aware of that little villain in the moment?
I’ll leave the ego vs. humility dog fight for another day…
But hey, if you’re good. If you’ve already figured it out. If you’ve reached the most ideal version of yourself across the board and have your swag on, then do your thing homie!! But for me, I’d like to keep learning. Keep growing. To say I feed off the progress would be an understatement. So that’s what this blog is about. A platform to compile thoughts, questions and maybe a few answers into a concise bundle. Some incremental progress, so slight and true that the ground gained cannot be lost.
The answer is only limited by our creativity and ambition.
Have you ever asked a question that leads to another question? With each ensuing question, descending a level deeper into an understanding that was once completely shaded. To question is to learn. To learn is to grow. Without growth we’re stagnant. Being stagnant stinks… So let’s question. Maybe we’ll find some answers or maybe it’ll become apparent that the questions are all wrong. One thing’s for certain, knowledge will be gained and insights will show themselves.
What good is all this thinking, brainstorming and constructing?
If it’s not shared with others, does that mean it’s all for nothing?
It’s hard to know the outcome and to be honest, that’s the beauty.
Though the importance of documenting the journey has become obvious to me.
Truth is – It’s not for praise, not for recognition, not for money.
Not for ego, not for power, nor for gain or for “look at me.”
Feel free to judge or look for ulterior motives if you wish, The fact is, expending mental energy on that route would be foolish.
Why define the motive to a T at this junction,
With so much ammo in the pocket, I’m bout to just jump in.
This entry, just an opener to get the ball in motion. The starting gate has dropped and the bikes have caused commotion.
So here it is from me to you, a dive below the surface,
Some written words in tangle of meaning to serve an unknown purpose.
Thanks for reading.
